Important Tip On How To Practice

How many times have musicians stopped working on things out of frustration to the point of wanting to give up?  How many have actually given up?  Not just on what they were working on but some have actually given up on playing itself.  What is the reason for this?  In a word FRUSTRATION!  Working on something over and over and just not being able to get it has caused many musicians to just quit.  All of this is due to a basic mistake about practicing that many people make.  I learned the solution to this during my studies with Oscar Peterson.  He in turn learned it from his father and passed it on to me.  It turned out to be not only and important music lesson but an important life lesson as well.
